Pressure Swing Adsorbtion (PSA) or Vaccum Pressure Swing Adsorbtion (VPSA) is the most commonly used non-cryogenic oxygen production process while the cryogenic air separation processes are routinely used in medium to large scale plants to produce nitrogen, oxygen, and argon as gases and/or liquid products. In both of the oxygen production method, Sodium Zeolite is an important material for oxygen generation and production. In the PSA/VPSA oxygen generation process, zeolite molecular sieve works as a filter to separate oxygen and nitrogen to get high purity oxygen. And in the cryogenic air separation process, molecular sieve is loaded in the prepurification unit to remove the trace water in the air. The the dry air will be liquified and separated to get high purity oxygen, nitrogen, argon etc.
Among impurities that can be found in the air and gas, water is the most common undesirable impurity, which is associated with natural gases in the vapor form. The presence of water may cause corrosion, hydrate formation, and freezing in the pipeline, so the dehydration of natural gas is more crucial.
Water is adsorbed by solid desiccants, most often with Oxygen Sodium Zeolite, silica gel, or alumina. Due to a high polar surface within Oxygen Zeolite Powder, water vapor and other components are easily adsorbed on zeolites, activated alumina or silica gel even at very low concentrations. This exclusive feature distinguishes zeolite, activated alumina and silica gel good commercially available adsorbents.
